PB: What you and others have said here has been very helpful. I went back down to the new Suzuki dealership, and they've got a couple of new 98 Savages from the dealer that just closed, and for about $3900. They also have a couple of used Savages in storage (soon to come out) for under $3K. You know, I sat on one of the bikes, looked it over moved it back and forth a little (stuff I was afraid to do when I had never ridden) and came to the conclusion that somehow or other, a Savage is the right bike for me. It just feels right. And frankly, this board also has a lot to do with it. I know I can tap into a lot of no-BS experience here, and the reactions to Bruce Clarke's post on the Thumper Page long-term Savage review showed how much class the posters here have. Rather than scream because a rider thoroughly covered the faults this bike may have, most responses were reasonable, and acknowledged that the Savage is not without its warts. Hey, I'll take the truth any day, and I know I will get it here, unlike on some -- no, many -- other discussion boards.
As soon as put together some dollars, I'm getting a Savage. Thanks to all the great posters on this forum.
